I knowi have posted this before but i am still not sure what to use. My 9 year old has had very little grammar but my 11 year old is very good. Is it possible to teach them together with a Latin program and should i just expect the 11 year old to do it? Is there a program that would meet both of their levels? If so, what would it be?
thanks for any replies.

Well it depends on what you want. Do you want a Christian program ? The Latina Christian programs are great. You could easily start with Prima Latina or Latina Christiana 1 with the both of them. I started my 10 and 8yr old with Prima Latina and it really has given them alot of confidence with learning Latin.
If not a Christian program Latin for Children is the next program I would suggest. This too has a DVD program and you could start the both of them in the same level the LFC A primer.
Of course I'm sure everyone will chime in here soon with recommendations. But also know if your going to persue Latin that I don't suggest you handing the program to them and expect them to learn it without any involvment from you. The best way is if you have little to no Latin experience yourself is to learn right along with them. No matter what program you use I don't recommend handing it over to your child to learn for themselves.

My girls were 9 and 11 last year, and they both used Lively Latin independently. The older one just moved at a faster pace than the younger one.

It explains whatever grammar it uses, rather than assuming a grammar background. 9 is the earliest I recommend using the programme though.

I agree that Latin Prep is just about perfect for eleven year olds. It depends on your nine year old whether it would work well or not. I had a couple of 8yos and several 9yos in my class this last year, and they did well, but all of them were very academically strong students and most had had some Latin intro already.
Latin Prep is very clear and concise, with a great balance of grammar and translation work. I really can't say enough good about it. But depending on how different your kids are academically, the 11yo might move much more quickly than the 9yo.

My kids are almost four years apart in age, three years apart in grade. My older dd is very strong in LA; my ds does not have those same strengths.
We used Prima Latina two years ago, so that *I* could learn Latin. We did LC1 last year. I don't think of it as a "Christian" curriculum. Yes, there are some prayers and songs, but (even as a Christian), we skipped all but The Lord's Prayer.
They did it together, and did it well. My ds surprised me by passing me up within the first few months. Of PL, lol. In fact, his quickness as memorizing the vocabulary words spurred my dd on to do even better. She did NOT want him to get ahead of her. :)
