I want to start teaching my older dc how to read music. I play piano and can read music. Dd11 already knows a bit and ds9 plays guitar so is very musically inclined (taught himself guitar AND piano but doesn't read piano music). Are there any websites for printables for filling in what note corresponds to which on the staff? KWIM? When my dd was in 3rd grade in ps, she used to come home with these stories written using musical notes. SHe would write down the letter of the note and when done, there would be this story. Anyone following me on this? I'm not explaining it very well! Okay, TIA for any suggestions.

I use donnayoung's "Singing Bees" music worksheet w/ mine, as well as musictheory.net's online Note Trainer. The Note trainer isn't printable, but we like it.

I don't see it linked to her new site yet --maybe she'll add it eventually? I'll check to see if i saved it on my computer and attach it in a bit.

here's one site w/ a similar idea: http://www.lessonplanspage.com/MusicLAMDSpellingWithMusicalNotesOnStaff25.htm

i did find this site that has flashcards! i've been looking for something like this :-)

enchantedlearning.com also has some pages about learning music and a nice musical calendar --but that might be for members only

oh --and you can print staff paper at musictheory.net too!
