I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the LfC A DVDs for my oldest. Originally, I thought I would have to buy the DVDs to get the chant cd for the pronunciation. As I was flipping through my TimberDoodle catalog, I noticed that they sell the chant cds separately. So if the lesson being taught is in the primer and the chants are on the CDs, what else is on the DVDs to make them worth spending the extra money?

Caveat: I haven't seen the new dvds.
It really depends on the student. The grammar is gone over and sometimes there is a fun chant to help remember the various paradigms. My friend uses them with her 4th grade daughter and she loves them. My boys, who tend to be on the serious side, didn't enjoy them (too silly at times) when we used the dvd back when they were in 6th and 4th grades.
Did you watch the sample? That's great that they sell the cd separate now.

So the student gets a very brief classroom presentation to reinforce the teaching in the book. For my ds, it's well worth the money. It also means that I don't need to teach or review the lessons with ds.

My daughter really loves the DVDs, because of the songs and goofiness at the end of each lesson. She's 10, if that gives you any idea.
We have the original ones, with Dr. Perrin teaching the girls in the house. He goes over the grammar and then they sing or chant. I have to say, those catchy little tunes really stuck with my dd and helps her remember.

My 3rd grade son loves the dvds (we have the new ones). He rushes down first thing every Monday morning to watch them.
They really just help to reinforce what is gone over in the book. I have my son watch the DVD, then read the chapter, then do the worksheets/activities. He also listens to the chant cd everyday.
Hope this helps!
