I'm thinking of changing from Blogger (a little cumbersome) to either Wordpress or Typepad...thoughts, ideas, and input would be welcome. If you've used blogger what do you miss about it when switching?

TIA,
M

I have a Wordpress (WP) blog and love it. I have a small Blogger blog that I play with occasionally, but I don't like it much. Blogger seems restrictive and not as easy to post, to me & WP makes more sense to me. I've heard that Blogger is easier to upload pictures to, but I can't say that for myself. WP just increased the space for uploads, too. :)

I have found WP's support to be awesome. After you find your way around the FAQs and forums, they are very informative. Whenever I've sent a question or request for help, they get back with me within a couple hours.

My bias is pretty obvious - eh?

I've never tried Typepad. I think there is a fee, but I am not sure on that point.

You're right, Sheri, there is a fee for typepad and I was wondering if it was worth it. Thanks for your input.

I just recently switched from Blogger to Wordpress and I love it!! I went the Wordpress.org route rather than the wordpress.com route. It's a little harder to figure out and get set up initially but makes for a much more dynamic platform with a great many more options. But you do have to pay for domain registration and hosting.

The more you pay the more options you have.

Things I don't like: I had to go to the 2nd level to make a custom format. And even then, there have been a couple of things I've not found I could do (like the background in a print--at least, I've not been able to figure it out yet and I'm not much of a computer person. I think they told me it was "coming" in the future). I still use sitemeter because, even though they have stats, they count my visits and do not give as much info (although the last email from them said they were making updates on this)

Is it worth it? Well, when I had Blogger, I asked them questions and never got answers, complained about photos vanishing all the time, but whenever I send a question to Typepad, so far they've answered me within 24 hours! When I search for info on problems I'm having, they have great helps. I find them very reliable--I'll pay for that kind of service. They have been updating what is available as time goes on, so I assume more of these options will be available over time. I'm planning to stay. :-)

Another Wordpress bias here...I use wordpress and find it extremely user friendly and easy to use. Support is great and if you want more bells and whistles you can pay for them but there are quite a few bells and whistles already included. :)

from Blogger and I love it! I used to spend 15 minutes just trying to format my posts on blogger (very frustrating!) and even then I often couldn't get the text to space correctly. I never have problems with Typepad. Also, I would agree that the help on Typepad is much friendlier than on blogger. I could never figure anything out from blogger's help menu. I haven't had any problems with Typepad's help.

It does take a bit of getting used to (especially if you have been using blogger for a while) but totally worth the money in my opinion. Also you can get a lifetime %15 discount if you enter in the coupon code ROJO.

Well, I went with typepad. It did take me a bit longer as I was so used to Blogger but I really like it now! There is so much more I can do. I fooled around with Wordpress for awhile, but it never "clicked" for me. I had trouble with photos uploading and so on, too. Perhaps it was just the format....as so many seem to really like it.

Thanks for all the input and c'mon up and see me sometime!
