My husband was in sports heaven while we were in the Boston area (for about 10 years). He is a huge Patriots/Red Sox fan. (SHHH...don't let any of our fellow New Yorkers know;))
And I don't mind watching Tom Brady. It just makes the game more interesting. :D

Well, if the Patriots weren't 18-0, I would vote for the Giants. Tom Brady vs. Eli Manning... tough choice. :)

The Patriots make me angry. I saw a news headline (http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/ny-spspy0203,0,404938.story) that they were spying before the 2002 Superbowl. I'm not convinced they aren't still cheating in some form (this is were my dh butts in and says "I doubt they're still cheating, but she won't let it go"), but since their head coach, quarterback, and receiver are all documented jerks, there is no reason for me to change my mind.
Anyway, while I can't root for the Giants (sorry, Andie's dh ;)), I hope the Patriots get their bums kicked hard. And if this results in the Giants winning the Superbowl, so be it :).
Go Packers :D!

From the article you linked..."Saturday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league previously heard about the possibility of the taping of the walk-through but found no evidence to support it.
"We were aware of the rumor months ago and looked into it," he said. "There was no evidence of it on the tapes or in the notes produced by the Patriots, and the Patriots told us it was not true."

Yeah, but really, are the Patriots trustworthy? They've been fined and penalized for cheating that's been proven. I'm sure they denied that, too, like a kid who says they didn't eat the cookie even though there is chocolate on their cheeks. I'll trust what they say once Belichick retires :p.

True. I understand that, but another quote from the article....
"There was no indication that it benefited them in any of the Super Bowl victories," Goodell said. Asked Friday if the league had investigated any allegations involving the Patriots' Super Bowl win over St. Louis six years ago, he said, "I'm not aware of that."
Either way, it should be a good game! :D

Yep, it should be a good game :D. The Giants were hot when they beat the Packers. I just really hope the Patriots lose so they don't get credit for the perfect season (only because they did cheat in a game this season, and I think they should've had to forfeit that game). I do think that the Patriots are really good and they don't have to cheat, which is why it irks me all the more that they did!

You'll be happy to know that Leo has declared the Packers his "favorite team in the football world" and pretends to be "Brett Far" all the time lately.
So. Now both boys have gone off the reservation, and I've only got my girls with me and the 'Skins these days. :)

Pats fans here! I am ridiculously excited about this game.
As far as the whole Spygate controversy, New England is the only team that got caught.;) Every team is always looking for an advantage and there isn't any proof that those tapes, in any way, gave them any kind of an upper hand. They are just talented and have an unbelievably good coach.

I have to go with the Pats from my favoriate state of MA. My dh used to be a big Tampa fan (20 + years) but lost interest once they won the superbowl. He said that goal had been met so he was moving on to better things. So if Green Bay isn't playing we usually just watch for the commercials and enjoy a day of snacking. Since the Pats are playing we will be monitoring the score as well. I would like to see them go with a perfect score, history in the making, ya know. I haven't kept up on the news about the cheating (to busy watching politics) but I feel that even if they did cheat and it did effect a few games, that doesn't take away from the fact that they had the skill and abilities to pull off the rest of the wins. They do deserve some credit for having some talent.

Giants, so that they can make break the old record, but If Brady wins then his dad who was seriously snubbed as a quarterback will have two sons that have won the superbowl. That would be cool too.

I'd hate for him to retire on an interception, but considering his first completed pass in the NFL was to himself, I suppose it could be fitting. Dh told me that he dropped out of the Pro Bowl :(.

I didn't hear that about Brett! That's too bad! It makes me think his retirement is coming this year then. Bummer.
Dungy is staying! He only committed for one more year, which is common for him. He takes each year at a time and assesses where he is spiritually and where his family stands. The minute he doesn't have support from his family or God, he's out. What a stand-up guy!

Wow, I can relate to this. We're originally from NE but moved to WI for 13 yrs. Can you imagine what it was like when The Pats and The Pack went head to head in the Superbowl! Yikes.
I won't even get into the whole debate on Spygate except to say: IF (big if) the Pats were technically cheating are we all naive enough to think they are the first team that has ever done something a wee bit shady? And #2: It was the FIRST quarter of the FIRST game in the season. If cheating gave them an unlucky advantage how did they get this far 18-0??
Oh wait... I kinda did get into the debate didn't I. When it comes down to it, I"m really mostly for the food. Great excuse to bring on the junk.
