Looking for a school motto or tagline... any ideas?

I need a latin motto or tagline for our school. Would you like to help me brainstorm some great ideas? Everything I've come up with either sounds silly in latin (for those of us who don't speak it) or not original enough (veritas is in everything!).

The motto is going to be integrated into my logo similar to how it was used at this school (http://www.tempeprep.org/). And we'll probably spell it out in several places on its own... maybe framed on the schoolroom wall.

I am going to use the logo on my official correspondence (transcripts, etc). We're also going to have some fun stuff made up (clothes, etc). DD thought it would be cool to have a parking sticker for her car. I'll probably make a bumper sticker for mine. These will probably end up being Christmas presents. Of course, you won't be able to read the motto in the logo. But I can't just fake it... because someone is going to ask me what it says.

Has anyone else gone through this exercise? Or am I the lone marketing type?

I rather like ...

sapere aude

which translates (I'm informed) as "dare to know" or "dare to be wise".

I stenciled it onto a t-shirt for my daughter (the lover of Latin) a couple of years ago.

Can I partially hijack this post for a second? :)

I am kind of in the same boat, but think we have decided on "semper doctrina" - which I HOPE means "always learning" - can anybody verify this for me?

We are a military family, so that is where semper came from, but is doctrina the right word? I tried looking it up on the free online translators, but having no Latin experience myself, I couldnt decide from the choices, which one would be best. Doctrina had the best flow, though.

I love the idea of a logo like the one you linked to, also! I will have to get DH to draw something up for us. I just had the best idea to send periodic reports to the grandparents on official letterhead stationary or maybe even *gasp* a REPORT CARD! hehe

Thanks for the responses. Hopefully we'll get some help with that latin translation and others will share with us their favorite latin phrases.

I love the report card idea. I think once I get the logo finished I'm going to go crazy with some desktop publishing. DD wants a parking permit. I'm debating whether to charge her for it!
