View Full Version : Help! How do I print out my LL?

I have owned it for 6 months, and gotten about 3 files printed. My oldest dd is begging to do it, so I really feel like a heel.
I am confused as to what parts go first, second, third...though I must admit I haven't seriously tried to figure it out. I just look at it, get overwhelmed and find something else to do. :D I wish it came in a single file so I could run down to my print shop and have the whole thing printed out.
At this point I think my options are, as I see them:
1. Give up on having it in color and print it in B&W. (Waaaa!)
2. Use one of my programs to stitch it together into one file. But that requires me to figure it out, and I already have a headache. :confused1:
Does anyone have any bright ideas that I haven't thought of? Or can anyone just sympathize with me? :crying:

Well, what I did was;
I opened up one file and printed all the pages, then holed punched them and put them into my folder. I did this for every file, putting the new stuff behind the pages already in there.
I then printed up the dividers and placed those behind all my printed pages. So when ds completes something, I just put it into the correct area.
I used one black cartridge and my color one still has some life in it.

Good then it sounds like who ever named the files was smart! That is good to hear. One worry down, thank you!
The bigger problem (now) is that I only have a B&W laser printer, no color. The outside printer who I normally use is a small outfit, mostly does company work, and doesn't have a computer that I can work form to print it out myself. He gives me a nice teacher discount for printing, but I suspect it would have quite the labor charge for managing all those files. :001_huh: I am wondering if it would be an arm and a leg to go to a Kinko's or Lazerquick, where I can print it myself, but don't get a teachers discount.
Sigh...

Ok... What is LL (lively latin)? :) I can only come up with Lightning Lit, but I know you don't copy that off. :)
I use UPS Store for larger copy jobs. They have a punch card that you can purchase a 1000 card for $35 (works out to be 3.5 cents per copy). I can send files to them via internet and tell them what I want (color, 2 sided, bw, etc.) and they will do the printing for me. Then when I am out running errands that day I stop by, run in, pick up my stuff, and they mark off my punch card for me (most of the time they do this before I get there so I just have to grab and go). I LOVE our local UPS Store. They are wonderful!
If you go to Kinko's they do offer a homeschooling discount.
Of course the above may be different for your state, but this is how it is in WA state. It is something to look into. :)

LL is Lively Latin, in this instance.
I like the idea of doing it over the internet, and I need to run to UPS anyway, so that might be the perfect solution.
Thanks!

Good Question! I am printing mine now as well. I printed the first chapter double-sided and realized that I can not separate the lessons/history/grammar that way :001_huh: -- so now I am printing it single sided. I took it to Office Depot to get a quote on how much it would cost to print (from files) and it would have been almost $40 for the book! I also tried printing a few sheets on a black and white printer and it did not show very well (because red doesn't print well in black and white).
This is a bit of a pain, but I am still very excited about the material -- it looks wonderful!
I hope you find a good solution that works for you.

I did not divide mine and we have been able to follow the lessons with no problems. There is also not a ton in color (a few paintings and maps). Unless you get them printed with a high quality printer, I recommend looking them up on the internet to view.
