I searched here and tried to search the old boards, but did not find what I was looking for. I thought I remembered a discussion about a beginning guitar curriculum that could be done at home. Despite the genetic unlikeliness :p ds6 has been showing some interest in playing guitar. I showed how to play our lapharp with the included cards. He went on to memorize how to play the first few songs, got ds10's old child size guitar (which ds10 never had any real interest in), laid it flat on the ground and figured out how to play the songs from the lap harp.

Lessons are expensive around here and the one guitar teacher does not want a student so young. I figure if we start something at home then if he is still interested in a year or two he can take lessons.

It is taught by a great gal, Marcy Marxer and my dd was playing in no time. My dd was 8 but if you did it with her I am sure this could work. We can't afford lessons either. :)
