My sis lives in Washington and recently learned about Lee Binz and her The Home Scholar services. It looks pretty good, but boy is it EXPENSIVE. Trying to decide if her products would be worth the money. For our oldest child we were worried about being admitted. The schools and local homeschool parents advised us well and admittance was easy. We didn't worry about a transcript because the university didn't require it. I've found that getting a child enrolled at either of our universities of choice is not the issue. The issue we are dealing with is paying for college/university. :001_unsure:

In order to pay for upper education for the rest of our children I have decided to compete for the scholarships. I know they are prepared when I get done with them. Now I want the university scholarship department to agree with me and award some serious funding to my kids. In order to get the financial aid office to work with us I had to produce a letter listing out what he did for high school, his extra-curricular activities, work experience, and future goals. Fun to write up, but hard to do after the fact. I am convinced that all homeschool parents should be making up a transcript for their children as they go along. No more listening to the folks in our area saying, "Don't worry about it." If the Well Trained Mind says to do it, well, I should. :bigear:

I have The Well Trained Mind and Susan's audio tape "Preparing for College Admissions". I've checked out the resources on www.donnayoung.org and they are quite helpful. I've also found a few books available in the catalogs that deal with transcripts and scholarships for homeschool students. What do you think? Is that enough, or would it be worth the money to buy some stuff from this gal?

A bit of background on me and mine. Homeschooled from day one for 13 years. We just graduated our oldest. He has a year of college done. He took distance ed classes for the college on site at the local highschool for part of his junior and senior years. I have 5 more sons I will be homeschooling ages 15 yrs. to 3 years.

I sure hope someone here has some experience to share. You ladies have been a great help for years. I love it on these boards.
