Has anyone seen this book? There is a short sample on the website, but have any of you used it yet?

OK, since I have no takers on this one, I took the plunge and bought their book after a couple of emails to and from the author. They are offering a discount on it since it is a newbie. I explained to Brenda that we have been using the Usborne art books and where they have been great for me in figuring out what everything is, the actual activities are not age appropriate for my son. I have also used a little of the Evan-Moor Teaching Art book. It works, but still not enough for my little guy since some of the projects are too much. He also doesn't like crafty type stuff and would much rather paint. It looks like this AP book will be an answer to filling this gap for us. There are other books at the library that I have on hold that look good too, but I am going to see if this one is winner as well.

Here is a portion of Brenda's last email to me if you are interested:
As you go through the book remember that it is beneficial for young students to revisit these concepts and projects again and again. You will find many ways to make it new- because what they see and explore will be new. Your youngest does not need to learn technical information such as color wheel and values, etc. We have many years ahead for that. Our primary purpose at this age is to teach them to be visual learners, look at things, and be fascinated by the details they see. How they choose to express their experience is unique and left up to them. Artistic Pursuits does teach technique, but in an age appropriate manner.

Hope this helps anyone that is interested. You can check it out on their website: artisticpursuits.com (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/artisticpursuits.com)

It's a pretty hefty price. Do you really think it's worth it? I'd like to read it, but put in a request for the library to buy it. I don't think I want to pay that much!! Is it new information or a re-write of info that can be found elsewhere?
:)

It is on sale right now for $28 ($32 with shipping), instead of $42 and I will use it with both kids. I don't have it yet, but I plan on comparing it to all of the books that I have from the library. She said that they take returns six weeks from the the purchase date, so I am not too worried. I will update when I get it since I wasn't able to find ANY reviews. I am optimistic that this is what I am looking for, but I also have several books waiting for me at the library.
