I hae an earth science textbook and study guide. They basically start from the earth *outward* - ending up with the origin of the unierse.

I hae the Teaching Co. Geology course, which starts with the origin of the unierse and works its way downward to the specifics of minerals & etc. on earth.

How would you reconcile these two??? Or would you een try??? Perhaps I should just hae them watch a lecture a week from the Teaching Co. while working through the textbook and trust that the two will eentually intersect? Suggestions, please.

(Oh, and I am missing the letter after "u" on my keyboard; I apologize for the difficulty, but I'd rather buy gas and groceries than a new keyboard, KWIM?)

OK-this is a very personal decision. I, personally, am very linear in my thinking. So, I'd have to change the order of one of the resources. The easiest one to change imho is the Teaching Co. course. And it is somewhat supplementary, anyways, right?

Still, this will not work out perfectly. Most likely the teaching co professor will mention some things that your kids haven't read about yet. But, you can look at that as a preview of what's coming up.

If your kids are very global in thinking, then you could probably just use both courses as written. In reality, who is going to mix up the inside of the earth and deep space? However, you might get little details from the lecture that would compliment the book being presented months apart. That would probably negate the advantages of using both resources IMHO.

I'm planning to use the Teaching Co's Nature of the Earth course next year, too.

I really don't think you'll have much of a problem with matching the sequencing. The first 2 lectures put the earth in the context of the universe and introduce the concept of plate tectonics. After those lectures, you'll likely find it to be more in line with your text.
