I need a bunch of famous girl characters for my kid's birthday party. They have to be well-known to 8yos, wholesome, and preferably somewhat diverse (not all white blondes). So, like maybe Minnie Mouse, Rapunzel, EVE from Wall-E, that sort of thing. Help me brainstorm, please! Just throw 'em out there.

Laura Ingalls Wilder
Anne Shirley
Pippi Longstocking
Jo March (maybe not so well known!)
Angelina (from Angelina Ballerina)
Madeline

Not sure what age your looking for, but those are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Good luck with your party!

Madeline?
Sally from Cars?
Wendy from Bob the Buider?
Ruby from Max and Ruby?

Here's the Disney list. Maybe there's more there.

Dorie the fish? Dora the Explorer? Princess Leia from Star Wars? Galadriel, Eowyn, Arwen from LOR?

My girls are older, different heroines.

Let's try this again. DS accidentally logged me off and I lost my post.

Rebecca Randall of "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" - she of the intense eyes and brilliant mind.

Sara Crewe of "A Little Princess" - an intense mind and florid imagination

Mary Lennox of "The Secret Garden" - capable of deep concentration and friendship

Kate Wetherall of "The Mysterious Benedict Society" - brave, quick, and acrobatic

OK, that's all I can glean from my bookshelf at the moment. Good idea to find the heroines of our kids' literature!

I asked my soon-to-be 8 yo and she mentioned the American Girls (Kit is popular now b/c of the movie, but she wanted me to mention them all lol ), Laura & Mary Ingalls, Hermione, Mulan, Disney fairies -- plus some others already mentioned. She also said Gabriella from High School Musical and Mitchie from Camp Rock (the disney movie that just aired not too long ago)
