If you have used both Calvert and BJU, do you think this will be a smooth transition academically. Is BJU more advanced than Calvert? Do you like the BJU video lessons? Do the video lessons cover the material well? Are the lessons engaging? Thanks for any help you are able to offer me.

Do we like the BJU video lessons and are they engaging? Yes! They are delightful.
Do the lessons cover the material well? Yes! The video teachers are excellent, and they do everything in the teacher's manual. Everything you would never have time to do or think of doing. In addition, I am very pleased with the the way the curriculum steps very gradually into complex concepts so that it always seems simple to the child. It's a very well-though out curriculum.
You didn't ask for cons, but there are cons: The lessons are much too long. Most of the families on the HomeSat Yahoo loop don't complain about this, so I guess most families don't find them too long, but my family does! Because of this, we pick and choose what we want from the videos, and that complicates things quite a bit. But we've developed a system that works for us, and we like it.
Next con: This is an instructor-led program aimed at the mythical average kid. If your child is slower or quicker than the teacher's pace, well, you have the same problems you would in a classroom. Again, this does not ruin the program. But there have been several areas where we had to make significant adjustments, and again, this complicates things quite a bit.
We don't use the hard drives, but my friend does. They are not perfect for her, but she likes it well enough that she's planning to use it long term with 3 kids. (She previously had the satellite, and she much prefers the hard drives.) We use the satellite, and we're sticking with it for now. (The satellite, the DVDs, and the hard drive all have the same programming; just different delivery.)
We've used HomeSat for 1st-4th, and we like it well enough that we plan to use it indefinitely.
Let me know if I can answer anything specific for you. Oh, and I also recommend you join the HomeSat Yahoo group. You'll see the majority of the families there are very pleased with HomeSat.
