How does Usborne compare to SOTW? It sounds cool to have the internet links so handy.

Usborne Internet linked Ancient World and Medieval World books and they're a great addition to SOTW!

We used the Ancient, Roman and Egypt ones when we were studying SOTW Book One. They were a great addition. (I have them for sale now, if you want to check out the swap board! :) )

The Usborne books you mentioned would be more of a reference or WTM suggests books like that as an outline. The SOTW is more of a story so I would think they work well together and would be ok apart depending on what you would like to have for your classroom. I am an Usborne rep if you do decide to buy one, you should check out the Usborne book of history which includes ancient history, medieval, prehistoric, and modern times. It is a better buy than buying them seperately. HTH.
Agree with Kissy. The Usborne books are more like a spine. Definitely get the combined volume (Encyclopedia of World History) as it is a much better value (paperback for 19.99). It goes along well with SOTW, and the activity guide in SOTW actually lists which pages in the Usborne book to reference, I believe.
