Does anyone know of a free website that has skip counting songs set to music? Where we can hear the music? I am so toned deaf . I had read a website that had songs but trying to match it up the the tune I couldn't seem to do it myself. I'm kind of tapped out as far as money goes at the moment so buying a CD is out of the question at the moment.
Though I would like to know what one everyone here prefers.

This website gives an explanation why they should be used with caution: http://www.betterendings.org/Homeschool/Fun/mnemonic.htm

It says "Skip counting rhymes make multiplication fun but does not always get the results you need...why? Use caution when using skip counting to song as the information goes into the sub-dominant part of the brain and may be difficult to find without singing."

That said, we like music. For example, we've used a world and states CDs with great success; no problems recalling the info without having to sing it out, but they were staring at a map as they sang. Just hadn't found any math songs I could stand listening to and that I thought would be worth the $. I just make the kids recite the facts. Have you considered free skip counting practice websites online? No music but activities....

Help them find the clues in the patterns. Like when counting by 9's.

9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90. Notice how the first number goes up but the 2nd number goes down.

Not all have some trick but the ones that do help.

Write the skip counting numbers on index cards and practice putting them in order. Show them on a numberline.

I don't know of any place that has the skip counting songs set to music for free, but I wanted to mention Math-u-See's skip counting songs. We love them! I found ours second hand, but I would imagine you could buy one for very cheap via thier website or a used homeschool board.

My kids loved this cd for two whole weeks until their unorganized mom lost it. It's been two years and I still can't find it:glare: . The kids still talk about it to this day:001_huh:

When you do have the $ or if you find it for sale cheap...100 Sheep CD is our favorite. They are corny, but cute songs that are all Biblical stories. This was a great way to get my kids started with their mulitiplication tables. Yes, they are caught singing the song sometimes while doing math, but I'm fine with that. They get the answers right in the end. We still do flash cards which helps with speed, but they know what to do when they get stuck.
