Hi, all.

A friend and I just started a brand new group called Guiding the
Musically Gifted on Yahoo groups for parents dealing with issues
related to having musically gifted kids. She and I have been
providing each other a sounding board and support through email for
almost a year and decided it was time to broaden our support network.

There is also a database of books we have found helpful.

Here is the description of the group if you are interested in
joining the group address is...

This is a support group for parents of musically gifted children who
are currently studying a musical instrument. If the following
describe your child, please consider joining our support group.
· Does your child practice voluntarily for hours every day?
· Do music professionals toss out the "P-word" (prodigy) when
discussing your child's musical abilities?
· Does your child have a passion/compulsion/obsession with music?
· Does music seem to be "in their bones" or "pouring out of their
soul"?
· Are the musical peers of your child several years older than they
are?

This group is also for musically gifted adults who have "been there,
done that" and can provide a voice of experience.

New members will be moderated initially to prevent spamming. To
request membership, simply tell us a little about yourself and your
concern regarding your musical child. We expect all members to be
respectful and tolerant of other people's opinions. We are here to
help and support one another.

Thanks,
Donna
