We are remodeling this week and one of the major benefits is I now have a closet under the staircase. It used to be a laundry closet, but we moved the washer/dryer to its new home upstairs.
The stair case is straight and I have standard 5" bifold doors on one of the long walls. I have movable shelves under the lower angled section right now up to about the 4ft mark.
I have a smallish kitchen with a small pantry right now. I am thinking about changing the space into a larger, more efficient pantry. But then I started Googling for ideas, and I started thinking about other options.
I figured there are some very creative people here, so I would ask ....
What is under you stairs?

Nothing creative here - just the steps to the basement!

Mine has a small "butler's pantry," as you pass right by there going from the kitchen to the dining room.
My dd's condo has a small laundry room under her stairs--washer on one side, dryer on the other, facing each other.
My greatgrandmother had a pantry that went waaay back under the stairs. I loved that pantry :-)

The area under my stairs is open to the hallway. I've got a stack of folding chairs stored there along with a shoe shelf and hooks for the kids' coats.

We have a half bath under the stairs. I love it, because we rarely use it, so it stays "clean" for company.

The "Radar Room" is under the staircase. Didn't realize how it sounds until a friend asked to see the ham radio workshop. Huh? It's named for a previous dog, Radar, whose kennel was kept there before he arrived here. LOL It's now the homeschool storage closet, but still affectionately known as the Radar Room :)

We live in a quad so the space under the stairs is small. We put leftover carpet in there and bought one of those small touch lights? and the kids have a "secret hideout" :) Great fun!

Well, we have two sets of stairs; one that goes upstairs to the bedroom level and under that is just the other set of stairs to the basement. But under the stairs to the basement is a playhouse for the littles. Alas, my dd no longer plays there very often so it only gets used when other little kids come over.

We have a very small half bath. My dh calls it the bordello bath because it has red walls and ceiling with black towels and a small chandelier.:)

At the risk of sounding stupid, what's a quad?

a quad is a house with 4 levels
the ones I have been in kind of go in a circular fashion, I guess you could say...
living room and kitchen on ground level, at one point in that level stairs go up to a couple bedrooms and another set of stairs go down to another room or two, then off that, yet a few more steps down to a basement, often times a garage

as for OP...
we have a what we call 'the big pantry' under our stairs...it houses a few storage buckets and small appliances
a long, narrow,L shaped space. It's quite scary, and I think it's the headquarters for all the creepy mole crickets that wander thru the house this time of year. I try not to go in there too often. My dog sometimes sits in front of the door and makes whiney sounds, which doesn't help.
