I'm planning to use Sonlight Core 7 to cover the renaissance, early modern, and modern periods. My oldest will be in 9th grade, and I'm not sure if this will challenge her enough. Has anybody used the Sonlight LA in Core 7? I've never used Sonlight before, but I wanted a curriculum that wouldn't be too heavy in US history for that time period (we're Canadian). Any thoughts or suggestions?

Any ideas, advice or cautions?

I will be using SL 7 with my 7th grader. She is advanced in reading, so I will be adding a bunch more titles from Cores 200 & 300. The problem is that the history spin is SOTW (vols 3 & 4), which she had already read. So, I will be using A Little History of the World (http://www.amazon.com/Little-History-World-E-Gombrich/dp/0300108834/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215385153&sr=1-1) and Story of Mankind (http://www.amazon.com/Story-Mankind-Hendrik-Willem-Loon/dp/0871401754) to enrich the history. Dd12 will still re-read or listen to vols 3 & 4 of SOTW, since her little sister will be using them with Cores 3 & 4 of SL over the next couple years.
