And is there a saying that goes something like "Just shoot me now!"?

Somebody? Please? http://easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-sick-smileys-532.gif (http://easyfreesmileys.com/Free-Sick-Smileys/)

I may not need the gun, though.

I think it's "don't starve either because they need the food for strength to fight it off!" LOL Or, "go with what the patient wants, for no other reason to cut back on any whining that might go along with being sick."

Hope whomever is ill is feeling better soon. :)

First of all, NO shooting, it's messy and you would have to clean it up. Second, Feed the cold and the fever- with HOMEMADE chicken soup, with lots of garlic and onions in it. (((Pam))) Hope everyone feels better soon!

Totally agree with whatever the patient wants...eat or don't eat. Lots of fluids either way.
And maybe red wine for mom.

Mom is the patient. Do I still get some wine?

Yes, and chocolate and anything else you'd like. After all, you need to get better fast to keep the family running smoothly.

While I agree that the patient should have what he/she feels as to food and drink, the actual saying is:

"Feed a cold and starve a fever"

The idea was that someone with a fever needed more liquids and not as much food, whereas someone with a cold could eat just fine (as well as drink). They didn't not give liquids to people with colds, it was just that the fever needed more liquids than food. That sounds garbled, sorry.

My grandmother used to say this all the time. She was 96yo when she died...and I was 23yo......so you can see she come from an era long past.

"If you starve a cold, you'll feed a fever."

That's how it actually goes.

No starving, ever.

It's simply not a good idea.
