Spelling: SWR cont from this year
Reading: DITHOR cont from this year
Math: BJU 4
Grammar: GWG 4
History: SOTW vol 3
Science: - BJU 7?
Writing: CW Aesop B and/or CW Beginning Poetry (more)

We are finishing Aesop A this year. SHould I do Beginning Poetry the first semester 4th grade then pick up Aesop B? Or finish Aesop B then pick up Beginning Poetry?

I have always done science together with my 2 dds - just not expecting as much from my youngest as I do from my oldest. I am wondering if 7th is the time to "jump ship" with that idea. My rising 4th did BJU 4 in 1st grade. IF I dont do their sciences together - what is something good for my 4th grader?

Latin - always need suggestions!! We are doing Matin Latin now

I am tempted to put dd in TT 5 next year if TT 4 is not ready. But, I am thinking a 4th grader needs more "teacher" time rather than computer time.

Thoughts?? Ideas??? Comments??

It looks great so far!!

Classical Writing lists their poetry book for the 5th grade, so I would complete Aesop B first and then move on to Poetry towards the end of 4th grade.

For science, I would definitely split the 7th grader and 4th grader at this point. I consider 7th grade science to be preparation for high school level science. We are enjoying the Apologia books here. I would ask the 4th grader what she is interested in learning about and go from there.

For Latin we're planning on using LfC A for 4th next year, but I haven't actually tried the program yet so I can't really comment on it.

Just one comment--if you look at the CW website (http://home.att.net/~mikejaqua/whichbookstobuy.html), they recommend that you do 1/2 Homer A, Poetry for Beginners A, 1/2 of Homer A in 5th grade. We've done 1/2 of Homer A and we are currently working through Poetry for Beg. A. I find the program very well done, but it is also challenging at times for my 5th & 6th grader. We are analyzing poems for speaker, audience, & message along with the rhyme scheme, poetic meter, and stanza form. The imitation assignments and stanza summaries can also be demanding.

I thought about doing the Poetry with Aesop too, but once I looked at the books, I stayed with the schedule outlined by the CW website. However, I did have my boys memorize the poems from the poetry book while we were working through CW Aesop B. Now that we are working through Poetry for Beg, they are less intimidated with the work because they are already familiar with the poems. They still think it is a lot of work though.

Just my $0.02 though. HTH!
