tomorrow. He though he got poison ivy at camp and it looks like it has developed into a secondary infection. The Dr. tested for staph. Ds will find out tomorrow what the results are. He is on topical and oral antibiotics and said that the area looks a little better and no longer swollen. He intially went on Monday. Also any positive stories you have about things like this healing up fast would make me feel much better.

I don't know how to help it heal, but I will be happy to pray for your son! Let him know he's being prayed for! :grouphug:

:grouphug: Oh how scary!! I pray everything is okay.

If it helps - ds 10 got a secondary infection after a bee sting. He was also on oral antibiotics and it cleared up fairly fast. The doctor said we were within hours of being admitted to the hospital on IV antibiotics! Yikes!!! I hope this case is as easy! (Ds's case was staph.)

We've had both those scenarios, with the same child, just not at the same time. Ds19, is just getting over a wicked staff infection that turned out to be not the "bad" anti-biotic resistant kind. I would say that it is a positive sign that the area on your ds already looks better (i.e. appears to be responding to the anti-biotic).

Some years ago, same ds had a bad poison ivy reaction. His arm looked terrible and swelled up like a balloon, but it did respond to steroids and is completely normal now.

Hang in there. It will get better.
