Which is the best Chalkdust Pre-algebra set to buy... the traditional set, the value set with books, or the value set with CD's? The $100+ difference in price makes me nervous I'm missing something if I don't order the traditional set, yet I don't know that we need to have the color text. Opinions, please!

I JUST ordered the traditional set. Here are the differences I see from comparison:

Traditional set has a HARDBOUND, COLOR text with 10 DVDs. The value set is B/W, SOFTCOVER BOOKS and 6 DVDs. I think the value set doesn't come with the solutions manual also, but you better double check me.

I wouldn't necessarily need the color text either. I do like the idea of the DVDs broken into smaller pieces; easier to find lessons, but more lessons on fewer DVDs would be fine also.

They have an 800 number. You could give them a call for further clarification. Then post here! LOL

I'm wondering if I want the value set now too - it's quite a substantial price difference. I wonder if the value set is an older edition? Maybe someone who has already received their set will chime in.

It does look like the traditional set is "newer", with some of the "newer" additions from Basic Math carried over; including metric measurement.

There is also a complete solutions manual which is not included with the value set.
