We hook up a MP3 and Ipod to them. I like them because our earphones seemed to stay tangled and/or lost. I also am not too keen on them having phones in their ears, even if the volume is low.

We have really enjoyed ours and I even got my dd the purse. However, I never allow them in our schoolroom.

I haven't tried them with a CD player but it comes with a plug for MP3 and IPOD connection. I would think it would work the same but you better check. The speaker quality isn't great, but I personally don't want too loud around here!

I usually research items like this on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-77523-I-DOG-AMPD-White/dp/B000UTO0EI) and read the reviews for more info. According to one of the reviews, it does hook up to a CD-player by means of the headphone jack.

We have an i-fish and an i-dog here. The kids don't have ipods, just inexpensive mp3 players. The i-pets work great and are a lot of fun!
