Any read alouds for 6 on the Marsh Arab's way of life?

Not exactly a children's book but I have a copy of Wilfred Thesiger's classic account "The Marsh Arabs" and I think this could be very interesting to the right child.

Note: Saddam did his best to eradicate the Marsh Arabs. His draining of the marshes by diverting the Tigress and Euphrates rivers caused massive environmental damage and for the most part he managed to destroy this ancient culture
