Is this worth the $35 smackaroo's? I see it is on the resource list for the Biblioplan.

Hi Julie ~ I think we are working on the same thing. I just ordered Ancients also, but I'm only buying books for a 2nd grader. I just saw this atlas on Rainbow Resource for $25.50. The 2003 edition has been renamed Cultural Atlas for Young People: Ancient Mesopotamia. My understanding is the content is basically the same. HTH

My library had it. I checked it out, but we never used it. It was definitely beyond a first grader.

Lisa, I think we are, but I have older kids. I do have a K, along for the ride, if you find a great youger resouce I hope you will post it.

Our library did not have the book, but it has lots of the others.

Mind if I hijack here? I see we are planning a lot of the same curricula next year. I'm a bit worried about all of the time involved. How are you planning to schedule your day/year? I really don't want to be doing school all day long, yet that is how it feels it will be!

Honestly I don't know how we'll fit it all in! Last year we did a 4 day week except math was 5 days/week. We did every subject every day. We started our day with piano practice at 9 (no earlier, sometimes later). There was a mid-morning break and a lunch break and we finished at 2. This year we're adding writing (WT) and Spanish. I think our Latin is more intensive (LfC in place of Minimus). R&S grammar is new, replacing FLL 2. Spelling will be gentler-we're going to R&S from SWO. There also seems to be more reading in history--maybe because I'm trying to use all of the levels of readers! And adding Time Travelers CDs.

I'm not one to plan out how it will all work in advance. We started the Biblioplan reading a couple of weeks ago (and we're still on week 1!) because I want to get to the colonial era and do the Time Travelers CD this summer before we start everything else up. I'm planning to do year 3 history over 11 or 12 months. We may have to schedule more than math on our 5th day. We may need to go until 3:00 instead of 2:00 a few days per week. Maybe we won't do everything every day. I'll have to work with the new stuff before I know what will be a comfortable schedule for us. I'm hoping we all have a little more discipline and just get the work done without stalling!

Good luck attempting this with a toddler underfoot! And I think you have great taste in curriculum!
