Popping in from my normal hideout on the General Board, this time with my admissions liason hat on.

The Naval Academy Summer Seminar (http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/nass.htm)applications will be open 1 February. NASS is a one week seminar that offers rising high school seniors an opportunity to see if a service academy is a good fit for college.

Homeschoolers are considered for this program, but it is a competitive entry program. Because this is an opportunity both for the student to consider the academy and for USNA to evaluate the student, attending NASS can be especially helpful for homeschool candidates to USNA who might not have the same points of comparison as a conventionally schooled candidate (ie, class rank, gpa, varsity sports, student government).

I think that there are some moms here on the high school board whose kids attended NASS in the past and might be able to comment more on the experience.

And in the spirit of jointness, I will also mention that the Air Force Academy also has a Summer Seminar (http://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/summerseminar/)and West Point has a Summer Leaders Seminar (SMS). (http://admissions.usma.edu/moreinfo/summer.cfm)
