Mom's catheterization went all right. We hope to do several stents rather than doing bypass surgery--I think we will know tomorrow.
Weary, weary. Dh is gone until Sunday. It has been a loooooong couple of days.
Thanks for your prayers.

I didn't know about your mom, but my sweet MIL had a double bypass right after Christmas. We are 1000 miles away, but it's been a long, hard haul for her. my sil was there for a month, and leery to leave them by themselves. we hope to get up there soon.
prayers for you and yours,
jodi

I'll be praying for you, Jean. My dh had a triple by-pass just over 7 years ago, so I truly understand those loooong days at the hospital. I'll be praying that your mom can avoid the bypass and that stents provide what she needs since the recovery is so much easier.
Take care of yourself...that whole hospital thing is really hard on the family.

Prayers for all of you Jean. DO take care of yourself, hospitals can suck the life right out of the healthy people.

My Mom has had some stents put in so I know what you're going through.
I'll keep praying.
Try to get some rest.

{{{Jean}}} you are in my prayers. May God give the doctors wisdom and you and your mother an extra measure of strength and peace.

((Jean)), my thoughts and prayers are with your family. My mom had a five artery by pass the year she turned 75, and while the recovery was very tough the first month or two, she was fine and the only trouble she had was circulation in the leg where all the veins were removed for the bypass procedure. Other than that it was a huge success. You would have never convinced me of it the first few weeks of recovery, though. If your mom has to have the surgery, don't let her condition at first scare you. It is amazing how rapidly and completely they improve, and they're even more advanced with the surgery now. My mom lived for 8 years afterwards and was very active and happy. What she died of was stenosis of a valve... if we had been made aware that she had a hardening valve, it could have possibly been taken care of at the same time as the bypass surgery, so that is one thing I wish we had known to ask about. They won't go in just for a valve unless the condition is bad, and in an elderly person that usually means the surgery is too life threatening. They could have maybe done it while in for the bypass, though (we'll never know), and given her a few more years. Just someting to ask about in case you face the surgery.
Thank you for the update, Jean. Please keep us posted on your prayer requests.
Love,
Robin

Mom was in and out of the hospital several times and stayed with us for a couple of weeks, but she is now home and seems to be doing O.K. We are still trying to figure out her dizzy spells--could be vertigo or could be something a whole lot more serious. We are on the neurologist's wait list.
I've not been on the boards much lately, and I was wondering if I'd missed anything for me--so I Googled my board name and came up with your post. Thanks for asking!
