At our normal outside time (11 am) it was only 8 degrees. So we stayed in. It did get up to 30 by this afternoon. But it was still COLD! Are we whimps for not going out to play and walk the dog when it's under 40?? How cold does it have to be to keep you and yours inside? FWIW I also have a 16 month old who's in the stoller.

I always dress myself lighter than the girls. They have full snow-suits and I wear jeans and a coat.
If it's too cold for you, don't feel like a wimp. I don't see a point to making everyone miserable.

Other than the baby, I would say until the windchills are below zero---provided they have warm winter gear and are actually WEARING it.
Actually, my girls play outside with windchills well below zero but they are dressed for it.
My friend who spent 24 years in Alaska (15 of that in the artic circle) told me it is NOT too cold until the temps/wind chills get to 40 BELOW---then and only then is it too cold to be outside. I think she is a little extreme.
With a younger one though I would be much more cautious.

"There is no bad weather, only bad clothes."
Love this quote! But for a baby, I would be a little more careful! And I'd remember, noses and ears can get frostbitten easily in really cold weather.
But I lOVE going outside when it's cold, if I'm dressed for it--even 10 minutes makes me feel better.
