Ring binders/page protectors, etc. And how many of each, please? I am so excited to get it!

Year 2 right? You need four 3" or 4" binders and about 1000 page protectors. Do you belong to Costco? I've read recently that Sam's 3" binders don't stay closed, but the same post also mentioned the Costco 3" did work for them. Costco 3" is "d ring" and maybe that's the difference. I use Costco and 3" works, but it is tight.

Here is what I did for TOGY2.
I put each Unit into a 1.5 inch binder using the week tabs that came with TOG. In the front of the first binder I printed and added all the books lists I could find on the Loom. Later I added a few directions for various projects from the Loom (ie the Geography Transparency Atlas instructions-from the map aids cd).
You will need a 2 or 3 inch binder per kid for their work. With dividers as needed. If you do the transparency atlas you need printer friendly transparency paper and ultra fine point sharpie markers in assorted colors. Get lots of printer paper and ink...
Next I arranged all the books on the shelves in the order they would be read. I'm not convinced that was the best scheme but it was a good place to start.
I did not put each page of the book into page protectors. But it could be useful if lots of hands will be flipping through it over the year(s). {After reading another post below--please note that I have not used page protectors-if page protectors are used you will probably go beyond a 2" and maybe slightly beyond 3" binder. With out the page protectors a 2" felt too big to me so I went with the 1.5"-strictly a personal choice/shelf availability choice.}
Its hard to say what you will need to get yourself ready-you'll know better once you have the materials in hand.

Lol, I was just thinking when I read this: patience, endurance, coffee, chocolate. But duct tape - now that's original
ps - I share the admiration, have fun above all

I'm doing my first year of TOG this year (YR1 Redesign). I have bought the big "D" binders and the page protectors and thought it was added expense, it will protect my investment. I even enjoyed the mindless work of putting the pages in the protectors. I'm weird, I know.

I put each Unit into a 1.5 inch binder using the week tabs that came with TOG.
Just a note: If you plan to use Page Protectors you will not, I repeat, NOT be able to fit a unit into one 1.5" binder. No-sireee-bob...not gonna fit.
Just unit 1 of my year 1, in page protectors, fills up a 3 1/2" D-ring binder (and it's a tight fit!). I purchased a set of 3" binders at Costco for the rest of my year 1 and I cannot get an entire unit in each...I should have bought the 4"...but I am making due with what I have.
I also have myself a 2" "working binder" that will hold about 3 weeks at a time. Into this I place only the weekly compnents of TOG that apply to us...for example we are only using UG and D levels, so I only place in my "working binder" the pages that go with those two levels leaving LG and RH levels in the main binder. This is the binder I will use on a daily basis, taking out and adding in weeks as we go along.
My son also has his own 2" working binder that I have placed all his Student Activity Pages, maps, etc in with weekly divider tabs.
Congrats on your TOG purchase! Don't listen to them duck-tape nay-sayers...you're gonna love it! :D
