My girls watched "The Sound of Music" and LOVED it. They are currently watching some of the ORIGINAL Nancy Drew shows. They are black and white and the girls are loving this too.

I went through the library videos today but am just not sure about them. I saw Guys & Dolls, but decided, just on the name, that it was not really for kids. There are some newer movies based on old stories, but are they any good? I rented Chip 'n Dale but it was the newer 'Rescue Rangers" and the bad guys were scary for my 3 yr old. >SIGH<

I would LOVE suggestions. The girls are 3 & 6, and we can have NOTHING scary. Also, we are very conservative.

Music Man--the original with Ron Howard as the little boy. My dc love this one. They also love the Andy Griffith series, I Love Lucy, and Little House on the Prairie.

Our library back in MN also had the whole Reading Rainbow series with the books. They loved those.

My dd's enjoyed:

Cathy Rigby's version of Peter Pan
Mary Poppins
Anne of Green Gables
Sarah Plain and Tall
Veggie Tales
Jay-Jay the Jet Plane
Quiggly's Village
Fiddler on the Roof
Roger's and Hamerstien's Cinderella
Lassie
Heidi
Family Affair (Buffy, Jody and Cissie)
Born Free

I recently tried MacGuyver from the library. Dd's loved NAncy Drew (the old ones) so much, I thought they might enjoy the mystery adventure side of MacGuyver. But, it was scarey for them.

But, they did like the old Mission Impossible's with Barbara Bain and Martin Landau.

We liked Annie. Also, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. There is also a show called "Stranded." It is based sort of on the Swiss Family Robinson and the family is Christian and my DD loved it.

My girls loved the MacGyver series and thought it was hilarious how he always had just what he needed to get out of a situation.

They also love The King and I, as well as most old musicals mentioned already.

The Waltons series.

Gomer Pyle.
