View Full Version : I'm done with summer.
I'm ready to move on to fall and winter. We've done our summer quota pool, beach, waterpark, stone mtn, planning our boat outing and amusement park outing. I went to Yankee Candle and they have their fall candles out. I got Autumn Wreath and Pomegrante cider so now my house smells like fall. Anyone else ready to get through with summer?

Nope, just starting. We just got the pool open a week ago, it's finally fit for swimming in. We have a camping trip planned for end of July. Wish we could do more camping this summer...we'll see.

I'm not done, but I am worn out. I am going on a long weekend with parents and ds8 this weekend, and after that I hope to STAY HOME for a whole month. I'm tired. My house is a total wreck and none of the projects I hoped to get done this summer are started, much less completed.
I've gone to Silver Dollar City 3 times in 3 months, had a 4 day trip to the Lake, one emergency trip to Shreveport (5 hours from us) because MIL was in the hospital, and now this weekend trip. Oh and somewhere in there I went to MD Anderson (10 hours from me) with my friend.

Where do you guys live???? This week for the first time was in the 80's! We haven't done pool, beach, waterpark, nothing! The lakes are still too cold. Plus, because of all of the flooding, none of the beaches/lakes are open because of contamination. Fun, huh? Happy Summer.

Actually, here it's our fall/winter rainy season. We're still in the northern hemisphere, but, we're so close that our seasons tend to be opposite. I'm actually excited to start our summer.:D

I can't imagine having had the time much less the weather to do all that. Done with summer? Um, no, definitely not. Just starting (kinda sorta) is more like it!

Not me! Fall means school, and I am NOT ready to start back to school. I am loving my lazy days at the pool, reading for my own pleasure, just being a mom summer days. Cooking, cleaning, caring for the kids, and having fun. If that means having to deal with hearing a few more "I'm bored"s from the kids, I'll still take it. Anything beats getting back to our school schedule right now!

Done? HA! Our summer just started. My 2 just finished PS yesterday. We had quite a few snow days to make up for this year. :glare:
If I ever said to them "Summer is now over and we're going to start our Homeschool tomorrow", I think they'd kill me.

I am typically not a fan of summer. I hate the disruption in our daily routine, which is ironic considering how routine adverse I was as a kid myself. I like our daily: school in the morning, play in the early afternoon, activities in the late afternoon, dinner, TV/computer/play, reading, bed. I feel obligated to give the boys some summer vacation so we do 6 weeks (middle June and all of July). This is the second week of our break and I'm really enjoying all the lazy time. I actually feel refreshed! Now I don't know how I'm going to feel come the first week in August. We've only been to our municipal pool 3 times. We went to the movies once (Kung Fu Panda). For the most part, reading, playing and lazing about has consumed all our time.
So, for now, I'm not done yet.
