I have a poster that I made with what was supposed to be a complete list of prepositions from a website. Today, while checking dd's Analytical Grammar, I discovered a prep that is not on my list (than). I started searching for lists on the internet because I didn't think than was a prep.
Well, I came across a list that has quite a few words that aren't on my list (which has a lot of words and word groups).
Can someone PLEASE point me to a COMPLETE list?!? My kids are really thrown off when they come across something and it's not on my list.

Have you looked at the highest Easy Grammar Level? I know that EG 56 had something like 48 prepositions in it--dd doesn't remember and it's been 2 or 3 years since she finished it. Not sure where else to find a list, nor whether or not this was complete. Plus, I haven't seen their latest edition.

I know Rod and Staff books have lists in the back - but we're long past R&S grammar books here. :)

Dang, I was hoping someone would post a link to a website like "Prepositions R Us" so then *I* would know. I get the impression that lots of words occasionally wear the preposition hat, as a sort of sideline from their regular grammar jobs.

That is where I found the list I currently have, which also includes some 2 and 3-word preps as well (instead of, in spite of, etc.)
I have never seen THAN on a list before...

Yes, I thought you were looking for this, but don't know of any. At any rate, we have R&S and I've never even noticed the lists. Yikes. But my girls are more visual learners so I don't do a lot of Grammar teaching, just helping when and where they need it. I do teach my ds, but he's not there yet.

I am out the door to the museum, but when I get home will type and and post. I am not sure it is "complete" but there are quite a few on the list I have.

I have the list but its bigger than allowed for attachments. I will have my dh help me shrink it or whatever I have to do for it. Sorry its taking so long.

I did find this link on wikipedia that has many of the same ones plus some I don't .

I'd be surprised if anyone could give you a "complete" list. As you're discovering, there are far more prepositions than any one list contains. There are even multi-word prepositions. Most lists just contain the most commonly encountered prepositions.
