Multi-quoting - how to do this?

I'm not sure how this works. I apologize if it's been asked before. I did a search and couldn't find where it had been addressed, so hopefully this isn't the thousandth post on the subject.

When I click on the "multi-quote" icon, it doesn't do anything. If I click on the "quote" icon, it opens up a window for me to respond with the quote in it. Since the multi-quote doesn't open a window to start typing a response, I'm confused how it works.

Can someone please guide me? Thanks!

As your are reading messages and you find one you want to reply to click on the blue button between the quote and quick reply buttons in the bottom right of the message - it has a " mark on it. Then do the same with any other messages you want to reply to. I do this as I read through the messages. When you have finished clicking on every message you want to reply to click on the "post reply" button on the bottom left, underneath the last message in that thread.
