I just read about CW and am interested in that - sounds great. Is that for an older child or could a 3rd grader do it?

I was going to go with WT1..... would it work to do WT1 in 3rd and then in 4th start with CW Aesop? Or if I'm going to go the CW route I should just start right away with CW?

And "if" we use CW - do we need grammar, spelling, etc? Or would it cover all that?

What is the difference between the 2 programs? I am looking online at both of them...

thanks!

You could do WT1, WT2, then go into CW Homer. My dd is doing WT2 this year (3rd), and I really don't want to take her into Homer next year. We're going to do CW Aesop B for 4th, as a way to tread water. WT is more fun, with games, instructions written to the kids, and did I mention games... WT is not hard to implement, just has extras that will give it the fun-factor kids appreciate. The samples of both will give you a good feel for them.

Thank you OhElizabeth. I couldn't find the sticky you were talking about. I looked but all I could find was an older one. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

You can check out my blog as I wrote a review about WT1. We have really enjoyed the program. It is very easy to implement and my girls have really learned to LOVE writing. They went from refusing to write anything to writing their own stories now. They never balk when I brint WT1 out. They enjoy the grammar games alot.

I know with CW you will need to study it a bit to understand how to use it. You will need your own grammar program and your own spelling program. These things are not included in CW.

Even with WT1 you need your own spelling program really unless your child is a natural speller. It just touches on the words they've misspelled in their writing. The part though is you really don't need another grammar program until you get into WT2. It does contain grammar but not all of it.

You could probably use WT1 and WT2 and then go into CW: Aesop B to stretch things out before going into Homer. But that's just my two cents :>)

Agreeing with the other's. They all work on the same type of writing (WT and CW Aesop), so as long as your child is not board they can do both.
