I was looking over the CLP K phonics program called Adventures in Phonics. I was told that it is advanced. I am trying to compare it with ABeka. The last reader in AIP has words like
errand
bicycle
Saturday
disturb
Is this normal for K? How does ABeka compare?

Those seem a little bit advanced for K. But you never know, your DC might get to reading words like that by the end of K.

The last book of Abeka K basic phonics readers has words like proud, frisk, third, bright, Grand/dad, barn/yard, and sun/set. The reader does put the distinction between those compound words.

Beyond that, they have some readers have words like thousand, agreed, school, and preached. But those readers are for kids who are accelerating in their phonics program. My DS went from barely sounding out 3 letter words to reading Charlotte's Web during his K year. So it's amazing what they are actually capable of.
