Hi All! I am deciding on Math next year for a 6 yog and an 8yob. Both used Horizons last year (K and 2nd). They like workbooks and working semi independently. Does anyone know how grade levels correspond from Horizons to CLE ? When we switched from Saxon we went back a year.
Has anyone used CLE for more than one subject? I am worried that my gang might get burned out using CLE for more than one sub. (We are doing CLE LA for the plder boy).
Thanks!!

Hi Kari, We haven't started using CLE yet, but will be using it for Math & LA also. You can get a diagnostic test from them that will help determine what level your children should be in. Maybe someone else will be able to compare CLE with Horizons.
Here is a previous thread about CLE and the diagnostic tests:

Yes, currently you have to order the diagnostic test from CLE . You can either go to their website and type in " diagnostic test" in the search engine ( that's the only way you'll find it ) or order the catalog .
Currently CLE is working on a new website and I'm not sure if they will include free diagnostic testing or not . It was requested because families feel that is just costs too much paying for the booklets and shipping and handling .
Hopefully the tests will be free like Ace school of tomorrow has on their website .

We are doing CLE math 3, 4, 7. We also do reading 1, 4, 7. We gave up on the CLE LA after a few weeks and decided to stick with Rod and Staff. So far, math and reading are working out fine.

I would say that they are on par with each other. A little bit different format, but the difficulty is about the same.
