My dd11 just finished 7/6 (well almost finished!) and did well. Toward the end she started getting lower scores on tests, but still about 80%. I've been told Alg. 1/2 might be too difficult for her since she's young and to do 8/7. Well, I have 8/7 AND Alg. 1/2 (both 2nd ed.). Could she do both (8/7 this year and Alg. 1/2 next year?) or would it be redundant? I'm still not certain I'm sticking w/ Saxon for next year but just in case I do...any thoughts?

I've had a math teacher look at both texts. She said that 8/7 covers Algebra 1/2 and well into Algebra and Geometry. I say that if your child is having trouble at the end of 8/7 then use Algebra 1/2 next.
Just my .02

Is that for the older versions or the newest? I heard that the older versions of 8/7 were not that strong in the pre-alg. material, but the revised versions have a bit more? Which version did this math teacher look at?
