I have been following a blog about a woman who has Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC for short). Well, she was diagnosed a year ago and is in hospice care now. :( I'm so sad for her yet I do not know her.
It just has me wanting to remind women that not all breast cancer starts with a lump.
Btw, her blog is http://www.punkrockmommy.org/blog

:grouphug: A close friend of mine's mom was diagnosed with IBC this spring. From what I understand it's quite a bit different from more common forms of breast cancer. She had a course of radiation this spring before having a mastectomy. I guess this can really make a difference with IBC, many women have the surgery first which does not work as well. My friend has flown to MN to be with her mom this summer as she recovers from surgery. Even with this improved approach (Mayo clinic I believe) the prognosis is still poor.
I have been following and praying for another family who I don't know IRL with a critically ill infant. I understand how attached and upsetting it can be though there's no real life connection. I sobbing as I read yesterday's update from the family I mentioned, dh just kind of looked at me like, "Huh, are you okay?"
Sorry that you're feeling so sad, ((hugs))

:iagree:
Thanks for the reminder. I only really found out the inflammatory kind last year after a brief scare. More people need to know about it.
It is a terrible disease. I am sorry for your blog friend and your grief.
I, too, follow the blog of a person I don't know and find myself grieving and raging for her.

Whenever I hear about someone like that it makes me hold my kids and not want to let go. Why are we so blessed???

When I was a teenager, two of my dad's sisters died of breast cancer and my mom's best friend did as well. Too sad.

My aunt and grandmother died of breast cancer. My mom is a 10 year survivor. She had a scare a few months ago. You never can tell.
