View Full Version : Should we Split the Sale and Swap Board Poll

Hi Everyone!
We have received some requests to split the board into "Want to Buy" and "Want to Sell." Is this something you would like to see? (We would keep the "Sale and Swap Board" as the main forum, with "WTB" and "WTS" as sub-boards.)

Oh and you know you can put the poll right in your original post? :)

You can't do it in quick reply, you have to go to full reply and there should be an option at the bottom to run a poll.

I think it should stay how it is. Not that I am not for change, but when you see the WTB add you might think of selling something that never crossed your mind. I think some people get deals that never existed. If you take the board and split it, someone would never check it and never know that someone was needing their book.

Since I have been hitting "New Posts" instead of looking at individual boards, they would get all mixed up anyway. It doesn't make so much difference here.

For someone like me, it would be a great idea. I'll type in the title of the book I'm searching for, and get excited that it's available, only to realize the post is for someone searching for the same book I am.

I would most likely only visit the 'Want to Sell' board which means I would never see what someone wants to buy. I have in the past sold something because I accidently noticed someone needed something I happen to have and not need.
Keep as is in my opinion works better in this case.

ITA witht his. I like it the way it is. Maybe a note up top to use WTB and FS in the title of the post so people know what to look for or avoid.

I've been a bit disappointed before, too, looking for something I want just to find it's someone else wanting it too. :) However, I agree with the other posts, I probably won't check WTB boards and not only will I miss the opportunity to sell something, but people looking to buy things will have less of a chance to find what they want if sellers aren't going over there.
I've not had problems in the past with the WTB and FS posts being mixed together. I think it's fine the way it is. :)

People really do not ever check the WTB boards.
With the post being together people can readily see what you are looking for. I just had this happen to me the other day. I've been looking for a program since late November and last week on another board where things are split (this board's swap was down) I had posted on the WTB board and kept it updated well....the lady did not check the WTB and posted on the For Sale Board....I checked the board at dinner time and found it was posted FS at breakfast it was gone already!
I'd rather the boards stay together with everyone being encouraged to begin each post with FS or WTB. If this is listed in the beginning of each post there should be no disappointments of realizing someone else is also looking for the same thing. JMHO

I agree with this. I'd rather they stay together as one board.

I would just like to see people use FS and WTB at the beginning of the post titles.

I do agree that having the WTB and FS markers at the beginning of the posts is vital on a mixed board. maybe make that a required clickable option instead of relying on each person to add it....THEN we can "sort" the FS/WTB posts if we so choose. They can remain linear by posting date, or be sorted into specifics-- like threads can be sorted by number of replies or views. I'm liking options :-)

I probably won't look at the WTB, although I might have something I am willing to sell.

I don't have a preference if you split the board or keep it together.

Searching is much easier when the FS and WTB are on separate boards.
