Beautiful Feet Geography Through Literature Qs

I just discovered this program. I am wanting to study US geography this year and next for 3rd and 4th. I originally was thinking we'd study the states as they appear in history. So, this year the colonies, then the midwest territories, Louisiana and Texas. Next year doing the rest to follow SOTW.

Would I be able to adapt the Beautiful Feet lesson plan to match this? Any suggestions?

BF geography is a bit less organized than doing the 50 states as they entered the Union. It starts with Paddle to the Sea which is about the Great Lakes area and then goes to Tree in the Trail which is about the Santa Fe Trail. I started it this year but didn't get any further than that since I am also trying to do the 50 states thing. I am also using Trail Guide to US Geography and they go by regions beginning with New England and working down the east coast and then westward.
