Teaching Spelling for ds who has been in Spanish immersion ps

Does anyone have suggestions for teaching spelling for ds who has been in Spanish immersion ps finishing 1st grade. He spells English words very phonetically, such as bawcuney (balcony), wen (when), theru (through), favert (favorite). I've started doing Spelling Workout A, is that the best way to go?

Has anyone tried All About Spelling?

Spelling is sooooo much easier in Spanish. My middle child spells very well in Spanish but can't spell his way out of a paper bag in English. I tried All About Spelling with him but it went too slow for him since he is 9. It works great with my 7 year old but he is also a better speller so I am not sure how to classify this program. I did get Sequential Speller for my older son. We will start it soon. I can post in a few weeks with our progress if you are interested. My dd is a natural speller and so I have largely ignored spelling until this year.
