I'd be Belle the bookworm ("My daughter? Odd?!").

And on days like today, "I want much more than this provencial life!" and I find myself dreaming of "adventure in the great wide somewhere."

"And for once it might be grand,
to have someone understand
I want so much more than they've got planned."

I voted Belle- because she's a brunette and she's smart and loves books. :)

:D Yeah, I'd expect a bunch of Belles on this board!

Hen Jen

I picked Belle too, because she loved books and had dreams

oh, and the wicked stepmother, I've already got one... tho things have been much more quiet around these parts since the flying monkeys flew off.

I picked Aurora, altho Mulan kicking butt is a close second :D

Gaston's song is a fave around here, lol. "Be a Man" from Mulan is right behind it.....

Ultimate tomboy - riding horses, waving swords, skinny-dipping with guys (almost), attacking Huns, saving China - i can dig it!

Belle would be my second choice.

Can I pick Tinkerbell?? I know she's not a princess, but I really like her! LOL

My kids read this over my shoulder and picked "wicked stepmother." Hmmmmm . . .

Uh, Oh, Jennifer! You're in trouble.

I'm definitely Cinderella. As much as I identify with Belle in interests (books, adventure), I identify more with the whacked out homelife of poor Cinderella. I've always loved Cinderella.

I don't know. I only have boys, and I am not even sure who all of the princesses are. Based on the answers of others I would say Belle, just because I love books, but I didn't even know she liked books. Is there a poll like this for those of us who have boys?

I love her since of adventure, although it gets her (and me) in trouble sometimes, life would be boring without it.

The top two are Belle and Cinderella. I wonder if it's because we all read so much AND take care of everyone else? LOL

Ultimate tomboy - riding horses, waving swords, skinny-dipping with guys (almost), attacking Huns, saving China - i can dig it!

Belle would be my second choice.

I chose the same one for the same reasons. And Belle is my second choice too.

What about Princess Tiger Lilly from Peter Pan!? I know she isnt 'one' of the regulars.... but oh! I wanted to be her so bad when I was 6! The long black hair... the outfit! sigh... I wanted to be her... honest! Ask my mom...:D

Good grief! I forgot to tell from the list!

Mulan is my first choice… she is strong and courageous and is devoted to her family…..willing to sacrifice her life for them.

Belle because she loves books! I love books!:D

Definitely Belle - I love books and am often in my own little dream world!

I am not sure why but I have always loved Cinderella. She gets to live happily ever after with her prince and she has tiny little feet. I don't have tiny little feet ( I have step-sister size 9 feet-oh, well.) ;)

I'm her body double.

I have always love Aurora but Belle is definitely a close second. My dd 6 Loves Cinderella.

01-31-2008, 02:37 PM
Yeah - I chose Belle.

But I had to debate (for longer than I should admit!) between Belle and Mulan. Books won in the end (but being Mulan seems pretty fun!)

01-31-2008, 02:38 PM
Oh, well, if we have to be body-doubles, then forget it!

But I wouldn't do to have a romance like that.....

GothicGyrl

Ok--all you Wicked Step Mothers, bone up! ;) And my second choice would actually be Ursula... but not Ariel cuz she's too cheesy. ;)

Don't homeschoolers boycott Disney any more? (Just kidding!) Nah, it's really the whole princess image I object to. I can identify more with Cinderella the working girl than Cinderella the princess. I also object to the happily ever after presented in so many of these fairy tales. Blech. If I have to pick something, I'd go with something more like Drew Barrymore's character from Ever After or, better yet, Kiera Knightley's Guinevere.

Happily ever after? I like the version I'm living right now, thankyouverymuch. There are no big, gala balls with grovelling stepsisters in attendance, no floating down a grand staircase in a fancy ballgown and glass slippers (I'd trip), no bothersome balcony appearances to do the princess wave to all the adoring peasants below.

A princess thread is probably not the appropriate thread for this, but I have to link it anyway. Because when I think of princesses, I think of dancing and balls. And when I think of balls, I think "Some balls are held for charity and some for fancy dress..." (http://youtube.com/watch?v=g23GiivXC78&feature=related)

Sing it with me! "Oh we've got...":p

Snow White-I am an introvert, it would never work.
Cinderella-nope, not good at housework
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)-Sleeping I could do, living in the woods not so much. I am a city girl. Though it is a close second because I like my sleep time.
Ariel-I don't swim well.
Belle- Yep! Reading works for me.
Jasmine- I could never pull off the outfit, nor do I do really well with pets as I am too persnickety myself, like a cat.
Mulan-Now this one has possibilities but requires me to get in shape...I have been working on that one for 15 years with limited results. It would just take too long.
the wicked stepmother! Nope, could never be that mean.

:p

I picked Mulan because I do not wear dresses at all. I am more of a tomboy and action type person.

I know I'm not like her and could never BE her, but I remember seeing that movie when I was really little and telling my mom "She looks like you, Mommy -- the most beautiful princess in the world, ever!"

If I were a Disney Princess, I would be Belle, since I am most like her. However, I voted for Cinderella b/c that is the fairytale I would rather experience. :)

but as an adult, I think I'd rather be Belle. She is not only beautiful, but also good, sincere, and truly knows how to love.

It isn't beauty that triumphs over evil; it's goodness, truth and love.
Blessings,

I would be one of the princess's horses. Or perhaps the stable girl who cared for the horse. Maybe if I were lucky, I would be the horse trainer. But no chance would I be a princess.

I picked Jasmine, since Genie wasn't a choice. ;)

I picked Ariel because she gets so excited about simple things, ie: the fork/comb. Plus, I love her sense of wonder and imagination. I love books like Belle, but I feel more of an affinity with Ariel.

I chose Belle, because like everyone else said- I love books and have big dreams. But I almost chose Jasmine. Aladdin came out when I was a young teenager and I remember thinking, that for a cartoon character, he was pretty hot! LOL!

ALthough I'm with Prairie Air about the Disney Princess thing, if the movies were JUST movies/stories then I'd be more willing to share them with my dd but since it has become an industry of its own- not so much.

I picked Aurora because she gets to sleep and wake up to a Prince, there's not much more she has to do other than play with animals in the woods. I like that. Life is complicated, dreamland shouldn't be.

My personal favorite growing up was Snow White, although now I don't think I could handle the 7 dwarfs with as much patience and love as she did.

I picked Cinderella cause that's me in real life, cooking, cleaning, scrubbing, waiting on people...... Being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sigh.

Mulan, of course! She's awesome. (And, I think she'd be the princess most likely to learn how to fly a helicopter, don't you think? That's my pipe dream. LOL.)

My dd has always said she's like Belle (loves books).

If I were a Disney Princess (TM), I'd probably apologize.

:lol::lol: I love all things Disney but that is really funny!

I chose Mulan - not because I am at all strong and tomboy-ish, but because I like that her relationship with Shang is real and because Shang is awesome!

I picked Mulan because that's how I used to be but now that I read this, I was wrong - I'm cleaning and scrubbing the floor.

I grew up like Cinderella - literally and my nickname for my husband is Prince Charming,
But I relate to Belle as an adult, love the Beast - he was much more complicated/Byronic than Prince Charming - maybe I show change dh's nickname to Beast : )

I picked Aurora, altho Mulan kicking butt is a close second :D

Gaston's song is a fave around here, lol. "Be a Man" from Mulan is right behind it.....

Have you seen the Broadway version on B&tB? My dd was just in it, and they have a hillarious song called Me that Gaston sings. (Maybe that is what you are talking about.) I also love the Mulan song!

What do you mean *if* I were a Disney princess?

I became Cinderella when I was 3 years old and always will be Cinderella!
