It was right after dinner and it was SO loud. Ds and I screamed. We went out to the front porch a few minutes later. We have lot of trees in our front yard and it went all the way down one that is 50 ft from our house. :001_huh: Bark was blown everywhere and there is a huge gash down the middle of this poor tree. I'll have pictures tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

We had fortunately unplugged our computers, but it blew out our cable/internet/phone supply and cooked our wireless router. The cable company has already been out to fix the supply box, and the boys went to buy a new router.

It was scary! You could still smell the charred wood when we went out to look closer (after the lightning was gone).

How'd you get cable to come out so fast?!

YIKES!!!

I just had the Progress Energy guy leave after an incident we had yesterday. Turns out after the tornado they hooked live lines up to the abandoned house next door. UGH. We had a branch fall on that side, and the transformer popping and sparks flying scared the crap out of us yesterday. I thought the AC unit had blown up since it was right outside.

Then wee had some lightening that was close today - but i can't even imagine it being THAT CLOSE.

TG it was "just" the cable that you lost!! (and, how'd you get them out there so fast??? HMPH.)

Grace of God. They are a fairly new company here and the only competition against the "other" company. I guess they actually believe is customer service :D. The guy probably gets overtime as well. Our cable/internet/phone is all connected to the same supply box in the house, it got cooked. The cable line runs through that part of the yard so I'll bet the lightning traveled through it into the house.

Everything else is fine, praise God the AC didn't go out.

More than likely the tree will die. All of ours have died that have been struck. I have had 3 trees struck by lightening in my adult years.....LOL....One time a storm was approaching....I opened my front door and told my dh to come and look....as soon as he got to the door....a big bolt of lightening came down and hit our power pole.....it was really a sight to see. It knocked out our garage door opener, 2 computers, a TV, and our phone....LOL

My mom had a "ball of light" come out of her television toward her and force her hands straight up into the air. Talk about strange! That was probably about 8 to 12 years ago, I'm guessing.

And when I was about 7 we lived in Florida. My mom had the water running during the beginning of one of those awesome Florida storms that come out of nowhere every afternoon. I remember a bolt of something coming right out of the faucet! Thank God her hands weren't there at the time!

I'm so glad that no one was hurt in your ordeal. I bet it freaked you all out for a bit.

Yikes, glad you're ok. Last night there was a bolt and clap of thunder that was so intense that I thought it went through our house. Scary.
