I think to some degree I am making progress

with my own studies. I have been reading quite a bit of non-fiction history and science lately. I still think however that my reading ability (around 5th grade level I think) is somewhat holding me back. I have been trying to decide if I actually can increase my reading ability or if I should just try to learn whatever I can at this reading level. What do you all think? Also, would some kind of phonics program possibly help me? Or would some kind of vocabulary program help me? I feel like I am spinning my wheels and not going anywhere. :(

I think I would recommend contacting an adult literacy program for advice. You may very well be beyond the abilities they work with, but they may be able to point you in the right direction for finding materials to help increase your reading ability. In the meantime, continue to read and study. You are a real role model for your children and everyone here to follow.:)
