I'm planning on using this in the fall with 12yos & 11yos. The hands-on part will appeal to my younger son, but my older son is extremely visual. I'm thinking I may need to supplement with visually appealing books. Did anyone else do this? Has anyone made a list of books to go along with this program?

Thanks!

I think it would be good for those ages. I tried it when my kids were WAY too young (as in, the oldest was about 7), and I ended up doing all the pages!

I like the book, though, and may pull it out again.

EK did it over 2 years (2nd & 3rd grades). HOWEVER... The cutting/gluing is pretty intricate, and even though EK was good with scissors and other fine motor skills at an early age, there were lots of times she couldn't manage without extensive help from me. Also, we skipped some of the activities (mainly researching/reporting on scientists, and something else, I think -- don't have the book anymore) that were a bit beyond her. If I had it to do over again, I'd wait until 4th & 5th grades because I think CGC is perfect for that level. (The publisher says 2nd-7th, but I say 2nd & 3rd is youngish and 6th & 7th is a bit too old. 4th & 5th is just right.)

My dd did this with my friend last year. She added living books and put most of the cutouts into lapbooks. It was amazing how these lapbooks turned out. I wish I could have taken credit for them, but I just dropped her off for class once a week!:D
