What do you eat for breakfast? I rarely eat breakfast, just have a cup of coffee. I am starting to realize that I am so hungry later, that I am overeating. I am starting to gain back a little of what I just worked so hard to lose over the last two years! :001_huh:
So any ideas for a good start to the day would be appreciated. I don't love to eat at that time of day, so light foods are great!

I eat a clif bar. I love protein bars, but they were getting expensive. The clif bars are about 1.00 each but fill me up until lunch. Oh, and coffee and juice. Today I have a sore throat, so I added a sugar free popsicle, but that's not the norm.
I eat very shortly after getting up, dh and ds can wait for hours.

This morning I had a bowl of Cheerios with a peach. I usually have something with oats or eggs. If I do eggs, I have 2 eggs. I need protein in the morning to stick with me and jog my brain to work.
I also do the Lower sugar Quaker instant oatmeal. I will have one packet of that usually adding some dried cranberries or a cut up banana to it.
Easy, quick and lasting but not heavy.

Typically oatmeal porridge and a soft boiled egg.
Edited to add:
If you get thick or extra thick rolled oats, you can make a good (as opposed to just palatable) microwave porridge in 4 or 5 minutes).

I usually have half a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, and whatever fruit we have in the house. The protein from the whole grain and peanut butter reallly sticks with me through the morning and keeps me on an even keel (I tend to get crazy if I don't include protein in the morning--I soar and crash. Thus, I've given up my beloved everything bagels which were white not wheat and didn't really go well with peanut butter:ack2:) I also have coffee, but mix it half caff. /half non. I really feel much better since I did that and never miss the caffeine. I was a bit of a coffee junkie and tended to overdo it. Now I can drink the same amount, but get less jittery.
Another suggestion is a hard boiled egg and wheat toast.

Bacon, egg, toast with butter. I'm not on the anti-saturated fat bandwagon, can you tell? And I need protein and fat in the morning -- I seem to burn through a lot of food in the morning, and if I have carbs (even complex carbs) I get really low energy and foggy.
The very first thing when I get up I have a green drink like Green Magma. The actual breakfast, then, is an hour or so later when the kids get up. Sometimes there's a smoothy (whole milk yogurt, freshly ground flaxseed, fruit, possibly coconut oil) in between. Also, I usually have a cup of hot chocolate, made with some coconut oil and a dollop of cream.
I eat a lot in the morning. Then I sort of loose interest in food for the rest of the day.

I almost always eat breakfast! In my really thin days, I ate three breakfasts (4am, 6:30am and 9ish am). I don't typically eat after 7pm and often skip dinner, though.

If I eat breakfast, which I should but don't always do, I have oatmeal.

My son drinks a fruit smoothie just about every morning, and I always make a double of that and drink one, myself.
That's usually enough to keep me going for a few hours, although I sometimes have a cup of coffee mid-morning.
When my daughter is home, she asks for home-made bisquits for breakfast two or three days a week, and I usually end up eating a couple of those.
That's about it for me.
My husband is not a breakfast eater. He just has a cup of tea once he gets to work.

99% of the time I eat a bowl of Kashi Autumn Wheat cereal. It's delicious and filling.

I make breakfast a large meal. It took some doing to get into this habit mind you because for years I ate very little or nothing for breakfast. This has been a change I made to improve my eating (and lose weight). It has worked wonders for me.
I usually have eggs, bacon, tomatoes, and coffee. Sometimes I eat leftovers from dinner (protein and veg). If I am really lazy I eat some full fat Fage (strained organic Greek yogurt) with some berries mixed in.

Whole grain cereal and a piece of fruit. Usually bran flakes or shredded wheat.

Yes, every day.
I eat 1.5 cups of a Kashi mixture I make with three Kashi cereals (Go Lean, Go Lean Crunch, and Heart to Heat) with some sliced almonds and 1 cup of skim milk.
I also have one cup of coffee first with 2 tsp. sugar and 1 tbsp half & half.

My favorite breakfast is a fruit smoothie. I'll take half a banana, a few strawberries, and a few blueberries, about 8 oz of orange juice and a bit of whipped cream. Put it in a blender and mix it up. Very yummy! I probably eat one of these about 4 times a week.
I'm also very partial to Krispy Kreme Donuts. Definately not as healthy though LOL!

This is how I am. :001_smile: I love our homegrown eggs, and they really are the best protein source for me. I add natural smoked bacon or chicken sausages when we have those, and whole-wheat toast. Lots of coffee, too. ;)
Occasionally, I will have cottage cheese and toast. I love yogurt, but it is not enough to get me even halfway through the morning.
Breakfast is absolutely my most important meal. :001_smile:

Am I the only one who loves leftovers for breakfast? Soup, meatloaf with some mashed potatoes, grilled chicken, even coleslaw, mmmmm...... I wake up HUNGRY!

Lately, oatmeal. I pour some over frozen blueberries and let it sit for a minute. Add some cinnamon, milk and br. sugar and I'm good to go. I feel really good eating it, and it holds me til lunch.

Usually either oatmeal (made from real oats) or the Ezekial 4:9 cereal with ff milk and a banana. Sometimes I make a baked oatmeal kind of thing and have it with milk and fruit....OR yogurt and fruit. I have taken some cottage cheese and mixed my yogurt with it to add some more protein and it holds me awhile.

I go through phases. At the moment dd and I are having porridge with tinned fruit and ground almonds. If you use cherries it's like having Cherry Ripe porridge :) For quite a while I was cooking up apple crumble. No extra sugar on the apples and a nice oat and wholemeal flour crumble with minimal sugar and lots of nice pumpkin seeds and such things. If I cooked two large ones, that would do us for breakfast for the week. Then hubby decided he didn't want to eat them anymore so I went off cooking them.
:)
Rosie- who will eat leftovers if there are any :)

I love leftovers for breakfast! Especially if it's Chinese food.
Other than that, I'll have a whole wheat waffle with peanut butter and banana, or cheerios w/strawberries or blueberries, or eggs and toast.

Cold cereal almost every morning. In the winter I eat oatmeal sometimes, and on Very Rare occasions I make pancakes, but mostly just raisin bran and frosted shredded wheat with milk. My brain doesn't really start functioning until after the second cup of coffee, so simple but boring works well for me. Also, dh loves cereal and wants to just eat his breakfast in silence, so he is very happy with our "no cooking, no questions, no surprises" routine.

Good, 100% WW toast (two peices) smeared with cream cheese and a spot of Apricot All-Fruit, coffee with milk. Keeps me going from 5 a.m until 9, when it is fruit time.

So I eat things like breakfast soups, quinoa with veggies, and when blueberries are in season I am a traditionalist, Trader Joe's O's with berries. :)
