I have a "problem". Instead of opening my bible first thing in the a.m., I run into the kitchen and turn on the ol' computer. Is there a place I can sign up for a devotional to be delivered to me via e-mail since I am struggling to break this habit? I do not mind paying for such a service if need be. I would like something geared toward parenting/home schooling if possible, but varied devos would be fine as well. I definitely want something directly tied to scripture.
Does anyone else have this "problem?":o

my first desire is to check emails, this board (of course) and the daily news. But if I put my Bible on top or right next to my computer, I will open it first. So I try to make certain my Bible is right there when I go to bed at night.
As for devotions, I really like http://proverbs31.gospelcom.net/everydaylife/everydayLife.php
There's devotions, articles, tips, etc.
Blessings,
Amy

But I can't find it now. I do get up and have quiet time so by the time I got to my computer, I just deleted the message. Here's the link to Our Daily Bread (http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml), but I'm missing where they will send it to your inbox.

If you like the computer in the morning, don't go to your email first! You'll park there for a while! Ask me how I know! ;)
Instead, go to http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml and get your devotional from Our Daily Bread, or My Utmost for His Highest, or some of the other links there! You can also use http://www.bible.org/ (a friend of mine runs it! They are awesome!) or straight to www.biblegateway.com (http://www.biblegateway.com) if you prefer to start right with a Bible passage.
Read your devotional and pray...THEN hit the email! :D You'll be happy you started that way! Does take some discipline, though!

There are a few I get through email....
Aw man, now that I'm looking, I can't find a way to link my favorite one. It says the web site is under construction. Anyway, it is a free email titled "The sayings of Jesus" and contains some of Jesus' spoken quote from the Gospel. If you want, I can forward you my email, and there is a place at the bottom where you can "Add My Email' (meaning, yours) to be receiving it. It's free.
I also received several from Crosswalk.com. You might check their web site for a list of free email choices.

I have the same problem. I like the idea of placing my bible on my computer. I'll try that.

Just another place to check out since I am not sure what your leanings are regarding denomination and style and such.

The one that I love to get is at www.turningpointonline.org This is the website for Dr. David Jeremiah, and his daily devotional is great!
Enjoy!

Surely I can find something that fits the bill among so many great ideas. I especially like the concept of a morning and evening edition with Charles Spurgeon.
The bible next to the computer is a GREAT idea, too. Maybe it would shame me into getting my priorities straight.
Thanks, as always.
