Has anyone subscribed to Highlights Top Secret Adventures? Is it worth the money? What are the kits like? I'm looking at this for a 9 year old girl.

My kids really had fun with them when they were that age. They are basically all the typical Highlights puzzles pegged on a specific country with a mystery that can only be solved once all the individual puzzles are completed. There's a jigsaw puzzle map of each country, and in order figure out some of the puzzles, the child has to read the reference book that comes in the kit.

My kids loved them, but I don't know if they actually retained any knowledge about the countries covered in the kits! (Its been 5 years since we did them.) I would say they are worth the money to try out as it is definitely a nice change of pace to them when they arrive each month.

There is a free kit being offered now w/bonus stuff.

The country is Japan.

My kids love them, FWIW.

They are pricey, but fun. I have a few gifted to my older son and will use them next year with my younger son. We also are working our way through the entire series of Which Way, USA? and like them.

I guess if I can get the first one free, I will try it out. I know my dd will love it, I just wanted to make sure it was worthwhile.

Thanks everyone.
