For me, I wrap in tinfoil, bake at 400* until done--about one hour. Then I split them open, put a little butter, pepper, on them but then I add stuff to load them: cheese, broccoli, chicken/beef, bacon, sour cream.. big hit here.

yuummm - yep - I'm planning on trying to use up some chilli from last night. Dh isn't wild about the "same" dinner 2 nights in a row but I'm hoping this will be different enough!

thanks!

I like them to have a crisp skin and tender inside So I
prink them with a fork
rub with a quality extra virgin olive oil
sprinkle with kosher salt
place on a cookie sheet covered with foil(do not wrap the spuds in the foil)
Bake a 375 until tender usually an hour or so test with a fork for doneness

I take my potatoe and cut it in half, thin slice an onion and stuff it in there. Close it up, wrap with tin foil and cook for 2 hours on 350*.....when it comes out add any fixings you want..yum!:D

I used to wrap mine individually, but it takes a lot of tin foil and time to wrap 8 potatoes. Now, I put them all under a tent of tin foil and bake for about an hour at 450. My mom always used to poke them on all sides with a knife so I do that out of habit, but next time I will try them without to save more time. Doesn't sound like they will explode.

I like to bake mine nekked at 400 degrees for an hour. I love the more crusty peeling with a nekked potato. :)

I agree! Just scrub, poke, and put directly on the oven rack at 400 for 1 hour. No wrapping with foil, just the best potato ever!

Do NOT wrap them in a wet paper towel and then proceed to microwave for 7 minutes! I opened up the microwave to a ton of smoke and a smoldering potato! DH got a good kick out of that, as did our little guys!

I've tried that one before too - but I always put a small glass of water in the middle - between all the potatoes. Maybe that helps keep the paper towels from burning up? ;)

I scrub, prick with fork, rub with olive oil, and bake at 350 for about an hour. Serve with butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, green onions! That's what we had for dinner last night. Everybody loves them here.
