I need to know this ASAP. DD has finished Level 1 of the old version Rosetta Stone, and I'm doing her final transcript. How many credits is it worth? Considering time spent the last 2 years on it (she had other very time-consuming outside community activities), I want to give her 1.5. Too much? Not enough?
I recall hearing one level of the old RS was worth 2 high school years worth, but remembering what I learned in Spanish in 2 years, my dd isn't near that point yet.
Please advise!

We used it for 2 credits. I agree with you though, they are not rigorous credits. I know I learned a lot more in my 2 years than my ds did. But, it suits my needs and purposes which is simply to check the 2 years of high school foreign language box.
Ds wants to study something else for college anyway.
HTH...and no tomatoes please! ;)

.25. Max. 1.5 is WAY, WAY too much. It's about how much content it has, not how much time she spent on it. That's like giving the first five chapters in a HS algebra book a full Algebra I credit.
RS tried to claim that *because you could spend* two years doing everything, it was worth 2 years of credit. This was EXTREMELY dishonest of them. And foruntately, these claims have disappeared from the website.

As a former Foreign Language teacher, I would say that even one credit would be too generous. This is not a "use alone" curriculum. Our state university won't even count this toward ANY foreign language credit for admission - period- .

Was this her only experience with studying a second language? If so, it seems you don't have much choice and have to award the credit(s) she needs. I don't even think of Rosetta Stone in terms of earning credit, though. My three older boys (ages 13, 10, and 8) all use it for German, but I consider it a fun extra. They'll use other avenues for both German and Spanish ~ programs and/or classes that are more credit-worthy, imo.

Regardless of credits awarded, we found out earlier she will still need to take a year of language anyway. They just wanted a copy of her final transcript ASAP, so I had to put something.
I have read conflicting opinions of Rosetta Stone. Frankly, my girls liked it a lot! Since both were doing the same program, they would use what they learned conversationally. I do believe the time spent on it warrants some kind of credit, though. They only chose a foreign language because most colleges look for that experience during the high school years.
Thanks again!
